NFC Provenance Authentication
Every work of art deserves an unbreakable record of its origin. prove.art embeds cryptographic NFC into the artwork itself — so any collector, curator, or buyer can verify provenance, authenticity, and ownership history in seconds.
The problem with provenance
"A certificate of authenticity is only as trustworthy as the paper it is printed on."
The art market loses an estimated $4 - $6 billion annually to forgeries and misattributed works. Paper certificates are copied. Databases are disputed. Chain of custody breaks the moment a work changes hands privately. prove.art replaces fragile paper records with a tamper-evident NFC chip bonded to the artwork — one that carries a cryptographic signature no forger can replicate, and that any phone in the world can read.
How it works
A physically unclonable NFC chip is discreetly embedded in or attached to the artwork at the point of creation or acquisition. It cannot be transferred to another piece without destroying it.
Artist, title, date, exhibition history, prior ownership, and certificates are cryptographically sealed into the chip and into our secure cloud record. The tag and the record are inseparable.
A collector taps the work with any NFC-enabled smartphone. No app. No account. They see the full verified record in under two seconds — artist, history, current owner, and authentication status.
Built for the art trade
Add a layer of certainty to every transaction. prove.art gives your clients the ability to verify what they are buying — and gives you a differentiator that no paper certificate can match.
Due diligence in seconds, not days. Before any significant acquisition, a single tap reveals the complete verified chain of custody — reducing risk and accelerating transactions.
We work with galleries, dealers, and auction houses to implement NFC provenance from the ground up. Tell us about your inventory and we will design a programme around it.
